Selection of Board for Class VII for present Class VI pupils
SOUTH POINT HIGH SCHOOL

SUB : SELECTION OF BOARD FOR CLASS-VII FOR PRESENT CLASS-VI PUPILS

Dear Parents / Guardian,

We are happy to inform you that the process of seeking a parallel affiliation with the Central Board of Secondary Education is almost over. The School is poised to begin classes under the CBSE from the new academic session, subject to fulfilling all related formalities. The option of indicating either WBBSE or CBSE as the choice of Board is being given to all pupils of Class-VI for Class-VII in the next academic year. However, please note that the School will be able to accommodate only a limited number under the CBSE, as the number of sections will be very restricted this year.

While indicating your preference, it must be kept in mind that the requirements of both the Boards will be complied with by the School and your ward will continue to be groomed and nurtured in the best possible manner, irrespective of your choice. But it may not be out of place to point out that change at this stage may be difficult for some pupils to respond to in a positive manner and also that there may be a difference in the fee structure for the students under the two boards.

We append below a form which needs to be dropped in the drop-box kept in School, by January 13, 2011, only if you wish to opt for CBSE for your ward. Those who wish to continue under WBBSE need not submit the form to the School. The option being indicated by you, however, would be applicable and considered only after we are able to complete all related formalities of the CBSE. The School reserves the right of selection without reference to the guardians, based on this Form, as the selection will depend on availability of seats. Parents of pupils selected to continue their studies under CBSE, will be informed by the School, before the commencement of the new session.

Clarifications of possible queries which may arise in guardians of Class VI (2010-11) regarding selection of Board (CBSE/WBBSE)
CLARIFICATIONS OF POSSIBLE QUERIES WHICH MAY ARISE IN GUARDIANS OF CLASS-VI (2010-11)
REGARDING SELECTION OF BOARD (CBSE / WBBSE)

Guardians may have some queries regarding the option given to them to choose either WBBSE or CBSE as the Board of Studies for their wards. We have tried to clarify the concerns that have come to our notice, below:-
  1. The choice of Board will have no implications on the location of the School.

  2. There may be a difference in fee structure (on the higher side) for the pupils opting for CBSE, depending upon the number of pupils. This is to account for additional expenses the school will have to incur in appointing new teachers, particularly in ECA. However we do not expect the difference to be more than 10 -15% of the present fee structure.

  3. The academic session for the CBSE in 2011-2012 session will be from February 2011 to March 2012 and for the WBBSE will be from February 2011 to December 2011. The academic session for the CBSE from 2012-2013 session onwards will be from April to March and for the WBBSE will be from January to December, as per the requirement of the respective Boards.

  4. In case you opt for CBSE and the same is allowed, the session of the pupil may change from Morning to Afternoon or vice versa, depending upon the availability of seats, if the same becomes unavoidable. This will be at the discretion of the School.

  5. The assessment/examination pattern will be as per the requirement of the respective Boards.

  6. The choice of the Vernacular subject (Bengali / Hindi) will be the same for both the Boards, as per present requirement of the Boards.

  7. The timings for the classes for both the Boards will be simultaneous as far as possible. Bus facility will be available as per existing rules of South Point High School, irrespective of the choice of Board.

  8. Existing members of the teaching faculty will be earmarked to teach the students of the CBSE Stream. However, they will be suitably trained to do so. Only if required, additional teachers will be appointed.

  9. The School reserves the right of selection without reference to the guardians, based on the Option Form, as the selection will depend on availability of seats under CBSE. However, changing over to the other board later on, will not be permitted, once a child has been assigned to a particular Board in Class VII or later.

  10. In case of any further clarification, please send a fax to 2460-2424 or email to sphs@southpoint.org.in giving full particulars of the child. We will not be able to respond if identity of the querist is not disclosed.
