Golf Classes for students of Class V
South Point High School in association with Protouch Golf Academy, Kolkata is introducing a 'Golf Initiation Programme' for the pupils from Class V onwards, from April 2010.

Golf is a major sport in the world and is emerging as a popular sport in India, not being restricted to the elite any more. It is now perceived that golf can be played professionally or even purely as a sport. It has also thrown up varied ancillary career opportunities.

Protouch Golf Academy is headed by ace golfer Mr. Indrajit Bhalotia. Under this programme, which is aimed at making Golf a more widely available and affordable sport, we are offering classes for Rs.100/- per month, only for South Pointers. The classes will be held at South Point High School, 82/7A, Ballygunge Place, Kolkata - 700 019, on Saturday mornings, where a full time coach will instruct and train the pupils. The School has set up a specially designed net and surface to allow students a safe practice environment. After the initial grooming, Protouch shall ensure that the deserving trainees can graduate to play at a proper golf course in the city and take up the sport more seriously. The School will also participate in inter-school golf tournaments held in the city, to provide more exposure to the trainees under this programme. Students will be permitted to use the equipment free of any extra charges.

Pupils interested in joining the Golf Initiation Programme are requested to meet Mr. Amitava Dutta of the Physical Education Department to register their names. While the regular classes will begin from April 2010, a few demonstration classes will be held in March 2010 for the enrolled students. Their parents are welcome to be present during these classes. Class timings will be from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. on Saturdays. Payment of fees for the month of April 2010 will be accepted on 29, 30 and 31, March, 2010, between 10.30 am and 1.00 pm.
