1st All Bengal Open and Sub-Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2017

Aarshiya Biswas of Class V G (Afternoon) had participated in the 1st All Bengal Open and Sub-Junior Rapid Chess Championship 2017 organised by the Madhyamgram Chess Coaching Centre, affiliated to North 24 Parganas District Chess Association under the aegis of Bengal Chess Association (BCA). The tournament was held at D. C. Palace Ceremony Hall, Madhyamgram on May 13 & 14, 2017. Aarshiya scored 4.5 points out of 7 rounds and was placed 2nd on the merit list in the Under 10 Girls category. She received the First Runner up Trophy along with a certificate.   

She participated in the 29th West Bengal State Age Group Chess Championship 2017 at Calcutta Girls’ High School from May 23 to 25, 2017 and scored 6 points out of 8 rounds and was placed 3rd on the merit list in the Under 11 Girls category. She received the Second Runner up Trophy and a certificate. On the basis of this performance, it was declared that Aarshiya will represent West Bengal for a National tournament to be held later in the year.

Aarshiya was placed 1st on the merit list in the Under 11 Girls Category in the 2nd All Bengal Rapid Chess Tournament, 2017 (Under 25 Boys & Girls) held at Kedarnath Institution, Howrah on May 27 & 28, 2017. Aarshiya also secured the overall 21st position in this tournament and was awarded a cash prize worth Rs.500, as well as, a certificate. 

She participated in the CCA Silver Jubilee School Chess Championship 2017 organised by the Calcutta Chess Academy in association with KDCA and recognised by BCA. The tournament was held at DPS, Ruby Park, Kolkata on June 3 & 4, 2017. Aarshiya played extremely well and scored 5.5 points out of 7 rounds. She was placed 2nd on the merit list in the Under 10 Girls category. She received the First Runner up Trophy and a certificate.
