Inter-house Competition

The preliminary round of Satrangi (Inter-school Singing Competition) was held at the School premises on April 24, 2017 in which 24 teams from the premier schools of the city participated. The judges for the event were Mr. Prabuddha Raha and Ms. Ivy Banerjee. The  ten teams which qualified for the finals were Apeejay School (Park Street), Army Public School (Kolkata), BDM International, Delhi Public School (New Town), Gokhale Memorial Girls School, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, Shri Shikshayatan School, St. Joseph & Mary’s School, The BSS School and the host school, South Point High School.

The Preliminary Round of Cerebrate (Inter-school Debate) was held at the School auditorium on April 24, 2017 in which 23 teams from the premier schools of the city participated and six teams qualified for the final. The finalists are BDM International, Don Bosco School (Park Circus), La-Martiniere for Girls, Shri Shikshayatan School, St. James School and the host school, South Point High School. The judges for the event were Sri Debashish Raychaudhuri and Smt. Shampa Banerjee.

The Inter-school Open Essay competition “Perceptum” under the aegis of the M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on April 29, 2017 at the School premises. A total number of 121 participants from 24 schools participated in the three groups - English, Hindi and Bengali. The participants in English were sub-divided further into two categories: Category-I for Classes IX and X, and Category-II for Classes XI and XII.

South Point High School hosted ‘Chessmate’, the Inter-school Chess Championship in association with the Alekhine Chess Club and recognized by The West Bengal Chess Federation, under the auspices of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) at South Point High School on April 29, 2017. The Championship was played in five rounds under the Federation International Des Echess (FIDE) rules in accordance with the Swiss League. There were 21 boys’ and 07 girls’ teams from 24 schools. The results are -

In the Boys’ category:

South Point High School A-Team   : Champion
South Point High School B-Team   : First Runner-up 
BDM International                           : Second Runner-up 

The Board Trophies were awarded to:

First Board       :    Mitrabha Guha : South Point High School.
Second Board  :   Srijit Paul  : Delhi Public School (North Kolkata)
Third Board      :   Aronyak Ghosh : South Point High School
Fourth Board    :   Aditya Basu : South Point High School

In the Girls’ category:

Lakshmipat Singhania Academy  : Champion
Shri Shikshayatan School             : First Runner-up 
South Point High School               : Second Runner-up 

The Board Trophies were awarded to:

Second Board             :  Samriddhaa Ghosh:       Sri Shikshayatan School 
Third Board  :                Sudipa Haldar               : Sri Shikshayatan School

The Prize Money worth Rs.36,000/- will be handed over to the winners at the  Annual Function on July 04, 2017.
