Aarshiya Biswas of Class IV B (Afternoon) had participated in the Dalmia Cements All India School Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament 2016, organised by All Jharkhand Olympic Association, affiliated to All India Chess Federation and recognised by Jharkhand Olympic Association. The tournament was held at Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi from December 23 to 25, 2016. In this tournament Aarshiya scored 4 points out of 6 rounds and tied with other two top participants with the same score. Due to the tie-breaker score, Aarshiya was placed 3rd on the merit list in the Under 9 Girls’ Category. She received a trophy along with a participation certificate. Aarshiya had also participated in the 6th JRD Tata All India Open Chess Tournament 2016, organised by East Singhbhum District Chess Association, in association with Tata Steel, under the aegis of All Jharkhand Chess Association, affiliated to All India Chess Association and Federation Internationale Des Echecs. The tournament was held at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur from December 25 to 31, 2016. Aarshiya scored 5.5 points out of 10 rounds and was placed 2nd on the merit list in the Under 10 Girls’ Category. She was declared the 6th Best Unrated Player and the Best Female Unrated Player of this prestigious tournament. Aarshiya was awarded a cash prize of Rs.3000/- and a certificate.    

Aayush Bhattacherjee of Class IV D (Morning) had participated in the 1st All Bengal Open Chess Championship 2016 (Rapid Chess Tournament) held at Konnagar, Hooghly on November 5 and 6, 2016. He scored 6 points out of 8 rounds and secured the 8th position in the main category. Aayush received a cash prize worth Rs.1000. He participated in the 6th JRD Tata All India Open Chess Tournament 2016 held at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur from December 25 to 31, 2016. He scored 5.5 points out of possible 10 points and secured the 4th position. Aayush received a certificate. This young chess player is now an ‘International Rated Chess Player’ bearing International Rating EL01301. Recently, he participated in the Macel 1st Division Chess League Championship – 2016, Kasparov School Chess Club, Dhaka. This tournament was held from November 23 to December 1, 2016 at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall Room, Dhaka. Three leading newspapers in Dhaka published articles on Aayush.
