hey guys...i got this cool equation...if its true then all of us are getting 100 upon 100 in maths....

-6 = -6(we all know that...dont we?)

or, 4-10 = 9-15 (same thing)

Now lets add 25/4 to both sides...(25/4 is a fraction...ok?)

4-10+25/4 = 9-15+25/4

or, (2-5/2)whole square =(3-5/2) whole square(they fall in the formula...if u dont beleive me see for u'rself)

Now i am square rooting both sides,we get

2 - 5/2 = 3 - 5/2(5/2 is a fraction)

now 5/2 is cancelled from both sides...what do we get?

we get,

2=3

hmmmm... isnt it surprising?

great...can u point the mistake out?

KAURAG [Class 12]Wednesday, May 12, 2010 10:22:55 AM
@Suyatra

The mistake arises when u do the sq. rooting.
In this case, the +ve root of 1 side = the -ve root of the other side and vice versa.

Sorry for d delay, the school site was not opening in my comp all dese days

@ Kaurag....u'r right...but let me explain it a bit more to others....
2 - 5/2 = 3 - 5/2(5/2 is a fraction)
this step contains the flaw
as Kaurag said....The mistake arises when u do the sq. rooting.
In this case, the +ve root of 1 side = the -ve root of the other side and vice versa.
2-5/2 is a negative value....but3-5/2 is positive...that is the flaw

such flaws are called fallacies.
