HI SREEMOYEE,THIS IS THE ANS. TO URQUES: Maxwell's screw rule

Maxwell's screw rule, named after the physicist James Clerk Maxwell, predicts the direction of the magnetic field produced around a wire carrying electric current. If a right-handed screw is turned so that it moves forward in the same direction as the current, its direction of rotation will give the direction of the magnetic field.
IT IS RELATED TO AMPERE'S SWIMMING RULE ALSO. I HOPE UR DOUBTS R CLEARED.

Arkaprava, here is the soln. to ur question-

-a^2+a+2
=-a^2+2a-a+2
=-a(a-2)-1(a-2)
=(a-2)
(a+1)
ans)(a-2)(a+1)

Sreemoyee, if you want to know more about Ampere's Swimming Rule then here is the explanation of the rule-

The rule is: If a swimmer be imagined swimming along a current-carrying conductor, placed above or below a magnetic needle, and proceeds in the direction of current keeping his face towards the magnetic needle, then the north pole of the magnetic needle will deflect towards his left hand.
If the conductor carrying electric current is perpendicular to the needle, no deflection of the needle occurs.

Manali di
Can you explain what is a radical in phs. sc?Why it acts like a element and has valency while its composition is that of a compound?

One interesting sum for sum lovers.....

FACTORISE:
a(b-c)x^2+b(c-a)x+c(a-b)

hint> middle term factor

arkaprava, in some chemical reactions a group of atoms of different elements collectively behaves as a single atom which is known as a radical or better a compound radical.
Also, since a radical behaves like a single atom in chemical reactions it must have a definite combining capacity or valency,just like the atom of an element. Thus in sulphuric acid sulphur n oxygen form a group SO4 known as sulphate radical.

Element radical means one or more atoms of an element behaving as a radical eg sodium chloride(NaCl).

SUPATH da, i think the answer is-

(x-1){a(b-c)x-c(a-b)}

Factorise:

1)a^2+(p+1/p)a+1

2)64(a+b)^3+125c^3+60(a+b)
{c(4a+4b+5c)}
