Counselling Cell |
| |
Ms. Mahuya Ghosh is the Student Counsellor for South Point School.
She is available on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Class Teachers refer children with specific concerns to her through the
Superintending Teacher. She counsels them after necessary consultation
with teachers. Parents are also called, if required.

| |
South Point High School has a Counselling Cell, comprising
Smt. Sraboni Chowdhury and Smt. Mohormala Chatterjee, which functions
throughout the week. Class Teachers refer pupils with specific concerns
to either of them, while keeping Superintending Teachers informed.
Parents can meet Counsellors as can students before classes begin. |

SPS Interactive Sessions & Parent-Teacher Meetings |
| |
South Point School hosts several interactive and parent-teacher sessions in July-August for
students of Transition, Classes I, II, III and IV. Attended by the Principal, the Vice-Principal,
Additional Vice-Principal, the Coordinator, the Assistant to the Principal and Superintending
Teachers as well as the Administrative Officer, these sessions provide a platform to bring up
and sort out issues concerning parents and teachers.
The aim is to clarify the basic functions
of School, the worksheet, assessment and evaluation patterns, the marking and promotion criteria
so that ailing children are not sent to School for class work. Issues raised by parents find
immediate redressal. The authorities also provide valuable suggestions on good and sensitive
parenting.
Formal parent-teacher meetings happen periodically at both junior and High Schools
besides regular communication over students’ progress. |
