School Festival  20/11/2022

 The Interact Club and Nature Club of South Point High School presented the inter-school Festival UDAAN & VRRIKSHYA 2022 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the School premises from 9:45 am to 7:00 pm. The participating schools of the event were – Apeejay School (Park Street), Birla High School, Delhi Public School (Ruby Park), La-Martiniere for Boys, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Patha Bhavan, Sushila Birla Girls’ School, St. Francis Xavier School, The BSS School and the host, South Point High School.  

 The programme began with Invocation and School song. The Chief Guest Mr. Charanpreet Singh, an alumnus of South Point High School, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The following fourteen events took place on the day of the fest:- 

 High Five for Boys, High Five for Girls, Bulls Eye for Boys, Bulls Eye for Girls, Kraft-o-Meter, Poster Perfect, Sneak Peek, Pause & Play, Two Thrills, En-Act, Dhwani, Nritt-Ananda, Cool Cuisine and Click (Photography). 

 In the Social Service drive, 32 underprivileged children from Prateek Senabrate was invited.  Pupils from La-Martiniere for Boys, Patha Bhavan and South Point High School had put up cultural programme for the children. The Interact Club members of South Point High School donated new exercise books, pens, pencils and erasers to them. They also arranged for some cakes and drinks for these children. 

 A guest  band  performance  by  Mr. Dipayan Banerjee at  6:00 pm  was  the  closing  event  of the day. 

 This was followed by the Prize Distribution at around 7:00 pm. Winning teams are being sent medals and merit certificates. Trophies were given to the overall winning school, and the first and second runner-ups. Individual trophies were awarded to Mr. Udaan, Ms. Udaan and the Star of the Fest. The final results stood as:  

 Overall First : South Point High School. But the trophy was handed over to the first runner-up school – Lakshmipat Singhania Academy. 

 Overall Second : Patha Bhavan 

 Overall Third : Sushila Birla Girls’ School

Workshop 06/11/2022

An interactive session on ‘Rewarding Opportunities with Social Science and Development Sector after XIIth was conducted for the pupils of Class XII (Humanities) on Monday, October 31, 2022 at School Auditorium. Sauraveswar Sen, a Pointer, HS 2004, and the Chief Mentor and Founder of Catalyst Learning Services, presented interesting career-trajectory case studies and spoke about various career options as Human Service Professionals.

The Student-judges for the M.P. Birla Puja Utkarsh Samman-2022 visited 107 shortlisted pujas in and around Kolkata on Friday, September 30, 2022. 32 Student-judges from South Point High School and 08 from M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School evaluated the pujas in ten groups. The results declared on Saturday, October 01, 2022, were as follows:-

Social Service 23/10/2022

Pupils and teachers of South Point High School decided to usher in the festive season by reaching out to some less privileged members of society, both young and old. Pupils were encouraged to contribute from their own pocket money or else carry out some household work and earn the money, in order to make the act truly participatory and thereby meaningful. Needless to say, and South Point High School can vouch for the same, that the act of giving brings more joy to the benefactor than to the recipient. Community Service has been done in the following organisations on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 and Friday, September 23, 2022.

Examination 23/10/2022

Half-yearly Examinations for Classes VIII & XI and Practical Examinations for Class XII commenced on Monday, September 12, 2022.

Midterm Test for Classes IX & X and Half-yearly Examination for Classes VI & VII commenced on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Half-Yearly Examination (Theory) for Class XII commenced on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Participation 11/09/2022

Five teachers of the Commerce Department attended a training session on ‘Financial Literacy and use of Digital Tools’, organised for teachers by the Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday, September 07, 2022 at Sushila Birla Girls School, Kolkata. Swadeshi Research Institute gave away Certificate of Participation to all those who participated in the Essay Competition on the topic ‘Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on Friday, September 08, 2022. Prizes were handed over to 05 pupils whose essays were adjudged the best.

Parent-Teacher Meeting 11/09/2022

A Parent-Teacher Meeting was held for Classes VI to XII on Monday, September 05, 2022.

Teachers Day 11/09/2022

On Monday, September 05, 2022, a farewell was organised for members of staff who retired between 6th September 2019 and 5th September 2022. A short programme was presented by the teachers on the occasion. On Monday, September 05, 2022, pupils of Classes XI & XII staged a programme for the Teachers in the School Auditorium to celebrate Teachers’ Day. They weaved it around the theme “Unity in Diversity” to mark the 75th year of Indian Independence, this year. All members of staff were welcomed with roses, cards specially designed by the pupils. Packets of sweets were provided to all members of staff from the School.
