The pupils of Classes I to V donated old clothes, toys, bars of soap, food items etc.

The pupils of Classes I to V donated old clothes, toys, bars of soap, food items like biscuits, cakes, etc. on December 4 & 5, 2018 for gifting to the less privileged children looked after by the Missionaries of Charity. All food items were packed separately. The volunteers of this institution collected all this from school on December 6, 2018. Three large vehicles (ambulances) loaded with gifts were sent off to the institution’s centres at Dumdum, Bongaon and Mariapolly.

Competition

The School Chess team comprising of Rajarshi Mandal – IX F (M), Ujan Sarkar – VII E (M), Ayush Bhattacherjee – VI B (M) and Sounak Majumder – VI G (M) participated in the Checkmate-2018, organized by Garden High School at their school premises on Saturday, December 08, 2018. South Point High School team secured the second position.

Parent-Teacher Meeting

A Parent Teacher Meeting for the pupils of Class X was held on Friday, December 07, 2018 during usual School hours.

A Parent Teacher Meeting for the pupils of Class XII was held on Saturday, December 08, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Workshop

Five senior teachers – Smt. Arjita Ray Chaudhuri, Smt. Neelam Banerjee, Sri Partha Pratim Roy, Sri Joyrup Bhattacharya, Sri Pulak Kundu, went to Birla Siksha Kendra, Chittorgarh to observe and conduct training workshops for teachers from Sunday, December 02, 2018 to Thursday, December 06, 2018.

A lecture-cum-interactive session on “Anti-addiction” was conducted by Mr. Bobby Chakraborty, a well-known actor and activist, on Friday, December 07, 2018 in the School Auditorium, for the pupils of Class VIII. Four sections of the said class of the Morning Session attended the session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and another four sections of the Afternoon Session attended the session from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Examination

The Assessment for Speaking Skill was held on Wednesday, December 05, 2018 for the pupils of Class X.

The ASSET Test in Mathematics for the pupils of Classes VI & VIII was held in the School premises on Thursday, December 06, 2018 during regular school hours.

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) December-2018 was held in the School premises on Sunday, December 09, 2018. The total number of candidates who were designated to the centre was 600.

Olympiad

The International Mathematics Olympiad of The Science Olympiad Foundation was held in the School premises on Tuesday, December 04, 2018 for the pupils of Classes IX to XII. A total number of 509 pupils took the test.

Ullas Celebration

November 24, 2018 was a fun filled day at South Point School as it was the first day of the two-day celebration of Ullas, the annual inter-school festival. About eight hundred children from sixteen premier schools of Kolkata in the age group of 7 – 10 years joined South Point School on this joyous occasion. Dr (Mrs) M. Kohli, Director, South Point School lit the ceremonial lamp and
declared the fest open. Some events like Hat-trick (cap making), Vibgyor (umbrella painting), Spin-a-Yarn (English creative writing), Math-o-Fun (quiz on Mathematics), Foot Loose (dances to Disney movie songs) and Geetotsav (songs on festivals of India) along with the prelims of Kwizwiz (quiz) were held in the school premises. The judges on the first day were Mr Debabrata Hazra, Mr Partha Chatterjee, Mr Debashish Raychaudhuri, Ms Swati Ghosh, Mr Anol Chatterjee, Ms Sampa Kundu, Mr Pintu Das and Mr Pratim Roy, all renowned personalities from different walks of life. Individual prizes for Day 1’s events were given out to the prize winners that day itself.

Social Service Project

On November 21, 2018 the children of Classes I & II brought potatoes and onions to give towards the social service project ’Reaching Out’. They had been asked to bring a minimum of one potato and one onion each. Each pupil of Class III had been asked to bring one bar of bathing soap to give towards this project. The collection was sent to two NGOs Paripurnata and Antyodoy Anath Ashram.

Classes II, IV & V

Pupils are invited to submit original stories, poems and other articles of various kinds in English, Bengali or Hindi and also drawings for the school magazine, to their respective Class Teachers by January 10, 2019. Kindly note the following details:

  • All articles should be written on clean A4-sized paper.
  • They should be neatly written by the child himself/herself
  • There should be a two-finger/line gap between the lines
  • Drawings should not be done on very big sheets.
  • Each article or drawing should have the name, class, section and session of the student, clearly written in BLOCK letters on the reverse side.
  • Details of name, class, section etc. of the child for Vernacular articles must also be written in English only.
  • Every contribution must be accompanied by a declaration from the guardian in the form of an application addressed to the Principal on an A4-sized paper, attached properly, stating it to be original and not copied from any book, magazine, newspaper or the internet.

Parents are requested not to alter the writing or drawing of their ward as we shall screen them and take care of any imperfection/errors.
