Competition

Pupils of Class XI attended the final round of ‘Empathy Times Inter-school Quiz Competition 2019’ at Hyatt Regency on Friday, December 13, 2019, organized by The Times Group. Out of 30 teams, South Point High School secured the third position. They received each prize worth Rs.15,000/- , Certificates and Trophy.

Nilankur Barik – XI J, Pramita Chatterjee – XI B and Archishman Banerjee -XI B participated in the Brain Bee Quiz at the Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata, on Sunday, December 15, 2019. Archishman Banerjee has been the First Runner-up in the Competition.

Pupils of South Point High School attended the Poetry Competition on Sunday, December 15, 2019, organized by Burrabazar Library. Out of 40 participating schools, South Point High School secured the first position.

Social Service

12 pupils of Class XI of South Point High School and three officials visited a village in Sunderban and distributed blankets, saris and tarpaulin sheets among 400 families on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The pupils had a first-hand experience of the sufferings of the villagers. Bulbul, the cyclonic storm had hit the Sunderbans recently and Rangabelia was among the worst-affected areas. The initiative by the School was supported by Bharat Sevashram Sangha in identifying the villagers and the modalities.

Interact Club members of South Point High School visited Rotary Sadan on Friday, December 13, 2019 to help in packing the Christmas Gifts for 1000 underprivileged children for the Flagship Event of Rotary club of Calcutta.

Examination

The ASSET Test in Mathematics for the pupils of Class VI was held in the School premises on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 during regular School hours.

The ASSET Test in Mathematics for the pupils of Class VIII was held in the School premises on Thursday, December 12, 2019 during regular School hours.

Participation

75 pupils of Class XI participated in the preliminary round for Empathy Times – Empowering People against Hepatitis and Liver Diseases, organized by The Times of India on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in the School Auditorium.

Smt. Gargi Dey, teacher of the School, attended the 3rd Regional Consultation on Non-Communicable Diseases at Vivanta on Thursday, December 12, 2019. This was organized by Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in association with Cancer Foundation of India. UHC advocates worldwide mobilization of International Universal Health Coverage Day on December 12 every year to call for strong, equitable health system for all.

A seminar on “Shaping the way we teach English in the 21st century” was organized by Pearson India Education Services Pvt. Ltd. on Saturday, December 07, 2019 at Middleton Chambers, Kolkata. Smt. Madhurima Bhattacharya, teacher of the School, attended the day-long seminar.

The International Mathematical Olympiad conducted by The Science Olympiad Foundation was held in the School premises on Thursday, December 05, 2019 for the pupils of Classes VI to XII.
