Spicmacay

An afternoon of Indian Classical Music was organized for the Spicmacay members of South Point High School on Thursday, February 06, 2020 in the School Auditorium. The programme featured invocation by Purbadri Ray Chowdhury of Class VIII A (A) and Sumoulika Sarkar of Class IX A (A). They were accompanied on the tabla by Prithwish Ray Chaudhuri of Class XII L. This was followed by a Classical vocal recital by Sagnik Sen of Class XI B. The second half of the programme featured a lecture and demonstration on Bharatnatyam by Smt. Jhinook Mukherjee Sinha.

Saraswati Puja

On the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja celebrated on Thursday, January 30, 2020 in South Point School, pupils of South Point School and South Point High School presented a cultural programme that was greatly appreciated by all.

Competition

In the CAB U/15 Mayor’s Cup Cricket Tournament held at Bansdroni Maitri Sansad Ground on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, the South Point High School Team won the match against Apeejay School (Park Street) by 10 wickets. Richik Sarkar of Class IX D (M) was declared the Man of the Match.

Grandparents’ Day

Nursery I will be celebrating Grandparents’ Day on March 6, 2020.

Rehearsals for the same will be held according to the following schedule:

Afternoon session – 11.45 a.m. to 02.00 p.m.

Competition

In the CAB U/15 Mayor’s Cup Cricket Tournament held at Delhi Public School (Joka) on Thursday, January 23, 2020, the South Point High School Team won the match against Delhi Public School (Joka). Man of the Match was awarded to Aditya Roy of Class VII A (A).

In the CAB U/15 Mayor’s Cup Cricket Tournament held at Delhi Public School (Howrah) on Sunday, January 26, 2020, the South Point High School Team won the match against Delhi Public School (Howrah) by 428 runs. Man of the Match was awarded to Sourya Chowdhury of Class VIII D (M).

Participation

Four pupils of Class XI attended I-Manthan, Innovative Ideas for a Safer Kolkata, organized by Kolkata Police on Thursday, January 23, 2020. The pupils made an audio-visual presentation in that event.

Six pupils of Class XI participated in Meghnad Saha Vigyan Mela, organized by Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Jadavpur University and Indian Oil Corporation in collaboration with Pashchim Banga Vigyan Mancha, on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Triangular Park, Kolkata. About 30 schools participated in the fair that continued till 26th January 2020.

On Friday, January 24, 2020, pupils of Class VI took part in the programme “One Nation Reading Together” organized by Scholastic, the publishing house. The pupils read the books that they had brought from home, wrote down the names of their favourite books and authors on a graffiti sheet provided by ‘Scholastic’ and read aloud the Reading Pledge before they started the session.

Workshop

Smt. Tulika Bindra attended a workshop titled “Orientation-cum-training programme on pre and post examination modalities” on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Apeejay School, Salt Lake. The programme was organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
