Inter-school Competition

 The Inter-school Quiz Competition ‘Q-Point’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the School Auditorium. The Quiz Master was Mr. Samanway Banerjee. 08 teams reached the finals from a total of 17 participating schools.  Birla High School won the first position while South Point High School ranked second and Delhi Public School (Ruby Park) ranked third. Ram Daftari of Birla High School was adjudged the Best Quizzer.

The Inter-school Debate, ‘Cerebrate’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the School Auditorium. The Debate was chaired by Sri Subramanian Venkataraman and the motion of the Debate was “The House Believes that 75 Years of Indian Independence has Not Been Wasted”. Shri Shikshayatan School secured the first position while Delhi Public School and Birla High School secured the second and third positions, respectively. Anas Ali of Birla High School received the Best Speaker Award. The Judges for the event were Sri Pradeep Gooptu and Sri S. Ramalingam.

The Inter-school Singing Competition, ‘Satrangi’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the School Auditorium. Sri Dipayan Banerjee compered the programme. The judges were Sri Kalyan Sen Barat and Smt. Chandrabali Rudra Dutta. The three rounds were Tarang (chorus), ‘Tarannum’ (solo round) and Tere Sur Mere Geet (Judges’ Choice). Among the 09 finalists, the first prize went to South Point High School, while G.D. Goenka Public School Dhakshineswar won the second prize and Army Public School (Barrackpore) won the third prize. Sumoulika Sarkar, South Point High School and Sansthita Mukherjee of G.D. Goenka Public School (Dhakshineswar) was declared the joint “Best Singers”.

Independence Day

 Independence Day was celebrated at South Point High School on Monday, August 15, 2022. The Principal hoisted The National Flag at the School premises.

The recently formed NCC unit in School marched past, after the hoisting of the Flag. It was followed by the Investiture Ceremony for the Prefects, House Captains and Vice-Captains and prize distribution for the Inter-house events and house events. The programme for the day ended with a Karate as well as a Yoga display presented by the pupils.

45 pupils of Classes XI & XII accompanied by 05 teachers attended the programme hosted by the State Government on the occasion of Independence Day at Red Road.

“The Spirit of Freedom” an online presentation prepared by the pupils on the occasion of Independence Day was put up on the social media site of the School. The pupils paid homage to the five great poets of Bengal who through their writing had inspired a whole generation of freedom fighters.
