Parent-Teacher Meeting

A Parent-Teacher meeting of Classes VI to IX & XI were held in two sessions from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 03, 2018. Post Midterm Answer-scripts of Class IX and Unit Test-II Answer-scripts of Class XI were handed over to the parents at the meeting. Answer-scripts of Practice Test and Pre-Board-II Examination were shown to the pupils of Classes X & XII respectively on the same day. These Answer-scripts along with those of Post Midterm Test (Class X) and Pre-Board-I Examination (Class-XII) were handed over to the parents.

Book Fair

Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. and Oxford Subscription Co. each organized a Book Fair in the School premises on February 03, 2018. The Fair resulted in a revenue of Rs.29305/- for Scholastic while the total amount of sale for Oxford was Rs.42687/-

Mock Drill

A mock drill for earthquake was held on January 31, 2018 at 10.15 am for the Morning session and at 1.40 pm for the Afternoon session. A gong was rung continuously for one minute. At the sounding of the gong, staff members and students dropped to the floor, wherever possible, or bent over their desks, covering their face and head with their arms. When the gong stopped, the process of evacuation started following the evacuation routes. The evacuation took 8 minutes 27 seconds in the morning and 6 minutes 50 seconds in the afternoon. Everyone assembled in Assembly Area 2, which is the backyard of the school. The teachers carried attendance registers with them during the evacuation and a roll call was taken after the evacuation. Members of the Emergency Response Team helped in the evacuation. However, as per the norms of evacuation for earthquake, the occupants of the Ground Floor and First Floor stayed in their respective rooms. The principal, Ms D. K. Chadda, addressed everyone both times, explaning what the drill was about.

Chessmate, Inter-School Chess Championship

Chessmate is held in association with the Alekhine Club. It is played in five rounds under FIDE rules, in accordance with the Swiss League. The enthusiasm among the participants of this mind-game is most palpable. South Point can proudly call itself the cradle for several young Chess wizards. Diptayan Ghosh became the holder of the Grand Master title as the youngest player from West Bengal at the age of 17 when he was a pupil of South Point High School.

Cerebrate, Inter-School Debate

Student debaters of the city get together at the Inter-School Debate, Cerebrate, and their forceful expressions and perspectives for and against a given motion make the competition highly enjoyable. Youngsters impress all with their articulate speeches and intelligent construction of thought processes.

Satrangi, Inter-School Singing Competition

Young vocalists from South Point High School as well as other schools take the stage to showcase their musical talent in Satrangi. It is moderated by an eminent singer and judged by stalwarts from various fields of music. Every year, the rise in number and level of perfection among young singers amazes the rapt audience.
