This year too, South Point School was a part of Daan Utsav, a week long festival of giving, which begins on Gandhi Jayanti and ends on October 8 every year. The children of Class I donated old toys in good condition to under privileged children, while those of Class II made a gift box containing small items and gave it to someone less fortunate than them. The pupils of Class III (Morning) were asked to donate stationery items and those of Class III (Afternoon) were asked to donate Bengali/English story books as gifts for children in care of non-profit organizations. Students of Classes IV & V were each asked to bring a new outfit for under privileged children. The response was overwhelming. On October 4, 2018 children of Classes III, IV & V brought the gifts beautifully wrapped in yellow, green, blue, red, pink and silver.
On October 6, 2018, 52 large bags full of these gifts, were sent off to an NGO, Goonj, in a school bus. Twenty children of Class V, the Head Girl, Head Boy and some Captains and Prefects came to school, helped in the packing and happily sent off the gifts. Some gifts were kept aside for the children of Antyodoy Anath Ashram, Calcutta Social Project, New Age, Sandipan, the free evening school run by South Point Foundation and the KMCP School at Hazra Road, adopted by South Point.
