Inter-School Competition 24/06/2018

  • The School team participated in the Inter-school Rowing Championship-2018 organised by the Bengal Rowing Club at Rabindra Sarobar from May 13 to 20, 2018. The teams secured the following prizes:-

The Senior Girls (Fours), Senior Girls (Group Ergo) and Senior Boys (Fours) secured the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, respectively.

The Girls’ team comprised Sudarshana Patra – XI H, Janhavi Majumdar – XII F, Anoushka Chakravarti – XII F and Sreeja Basu – XI F.

The Boys’ team comprised Ankit Roy – XII (2017-2018), Pratik Gupta – XI G, Ayanava Das – XI F and Aritra Basu – XII L (2018-2019).

  • The School Teams (Boys & Girls) participated in the All Bengal Inter-school Table Tennis Championship, organized by Dakshin Kolkata Table Tennis Association held at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra from May 20 to 22, 2018. The Boys’ Team secured the Bronze Medal in the Junior Boys’ Category and the Girls’ Team qualified upto the quarter final stage.

11th KIIT International Chess Festival 2018 24/07/2018

Shresth Mahapatra of Class V C (Morning) participated in the 11th KIIT International Chess Festival 2018 organised by All Odisha Chess Association & Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology at KIIT, Bhubaneswar from May 25 to June 1, 2018. He scored 5 points in 9 rounds and secured the second position in the Category C tournament. Shresth received a cash prize worth Rs.3,500.00 and a certificate.

OHSAS 24/06/2018

An hour-long training session on OHSAS 18001:2007 related to ‘Handling of Chemicals and Hazards Involved’ and familiarisation of MSDS was held in the School premises on Thursday, June 21, 2018. The training was imparted by Smt. Arjita Ray Chaudhuri, Sri Shubhankar Mozumdar, Dr (Smt) Neelam Banerjee and Smt. Gargi De to all the Laboratory Demonstrators and staff members.

Subject Prizes 24/06/2018

On June 23, 2018 subject prizes for the session 2017-2018 were given to the winners of Classes II to V (now in Classes III to VI) in the school auditorium. The programme began at 2.15 pm with an invocation and the school song sung by the school choir. Mrs D. K. Chadda, Principal, South Point School, addressed the gathering and then gave away the prizes. Guardians of the prize winners and some members of staff attended the ceremony.

Annual Prize Distribution 24/06/2018

The Prize Distribution Ceremony for subject prizes of Classes VI to VIII was held in the School Auditorium on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 10:30 a.m.

Achievement 17/06/2018

Spandan Ghosh of Class XII J is one among 35 students who qualified in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad-2018. He attended the 4-week long International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) held at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education from April 18 to May 16, 2018.

Avinandan Bose of XII A stood first in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, 2018.

Examination 17/06/2018

The AISSCE 2018 result was declared on Saturday, May 26, 2018. A total of 552 pupils appeared for the examination. 29 pupils (5.25%) scored 95% and above, 154 pupils (27.89%) scored 90% and above, 361 pupils (65.39%) scored 80% and above, 470 pupils (85.14%) scored 70% and above and 527 pupils (95.47%) scored 60% and above. Abhishek Pal from the Science Stream scored the highest from the School with a total of 483. Krittika B. Dutta secured the highest marks in Humanities with a total of 480 whereas Ritwika Chakravarty topped in Commerce with a score of 479.

The AISSE 2018 result was declared on May 29, 2018. Out of a total of 790 pupils, who appeared for the examination, 144 pupils (18.22%) scored 95% and above, 369 pupils (46.70%) scored 90% and above, 610 pupils (77.21%) scored 80% and above, 741 pupils (93.79%) scored 70% and above and 779 pupils (98.60%) scored 60% and above. Ayshwarya Ghosh scored a total of 494. She was followed by Sayan Maji with a score of 492 and Md. Tiham Hossain and Pavel Chakraborty each scoring a total of 491.

The result of Madhyamik Pariksha, 2018 was declared on June 06, 2018. Out of 93 pupils who appeared, 28 pupils (30.11%) secured 90% and above, 68 pupils (73.12%) scored 80% and above, 85 pupils (91.40%) scored 70% and above and 91 pupils (97.85%) scored 60% and above. Rhichick Dey scored the highest total of 661 from the School followed by Agniv Gupta and Swarnava Porey, who scored 658 and 656 respectively. Marksheets and certificates were distributed to the candidates on the same day.

Inter-school Competition 13/05/2018

The Inter-school Debate, ‘Cerebrate’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Monday, May 07, 2018 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar. The Debate was chaired by Dr. Kunal Sarkar and the motion of the debate was “Examination is the right way to judge learning outcomes”. Mahadevi Birla World Academy secured the first position while La-Martiniere for Girls and Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, jointly secured the second position. Sai Snigdha Nittala of Mahadevi Birla World Academy received the Best Speaker Award. The Judges for the event were Sri Pradeep Gooptu, Sri S. Ramalingam and Smt. Swati Gautam.

The Inter-school Quiz Competition ‘Q-Point’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Monday, May 07, 2018 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar. The Quiz Master was Mr. Charanpreet Singh. Eight teams reached the finals from a total of 23 participating schools. M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School won the first position while The Heritage School ranked second and Lakshmipat Singhania Academy ranked third. Imon Bhattacharyya of The Heritage School was adjudged the Best Quizzard.

Shinjini Ghosh won the Fourth Grand Award in Intel ISEF held at Pittsburg, Philadelphia in May 2018 for the Project titled ‘A Novel Machine Learning Approach for Determining the Confounding Factor for Cancer Identification: An Integration of Neural learning and decision tree’
