Principal’s Address 26/11/2017

The Principal addressed about 130 pupils of Class XII (Science) who failed to reach the required standard in the Half-yearly Examination, 2017-2018. One parent of each pupil was also present at the address which was held in the School Auditorium on November 23, 2017.

Olympiad 26/11/2017

Around 1070 pupils of Classes VI to XII participated in the Science Olympiad held on November 23, 2017 in the School premises.

Table Tennis Championship 26/11/2017

Parijat Dwary of Class V E (Morning) has been doing very well in the field of table tennis. He had participated in the Friend’s Staff (Stage I) Table Tennis Championship 2017 organised by Friend’s Staff, Hindmotor, under the guidance of Hooghly District Table Tennis Association & Bengal Table Tennis Association, on November 11 & 12, 2017. He became the 1st Runner Up in the Cadet Boys (Under 12) singles event. He received cash prize worth Rs.250/-. Parijat also participated in the All Bengal Bhowanipur Bayam Sangha Table Tennis Championship (Stage I) 2017 held at Bhowanipur Bayam Sangha from November 25 to 27, 2017. He became the winner in the Cadet Boys singles event (Under 12). He received a certificate and a medal.

OHSAS 26/11/2017

An Internal Audit of the School was conducted by the internal audit team of South Point School. The team during their day long visit in the School, pointed out various areas where improvement was required for sustained health and safety of the occupants of the building.

Examination 26/11/2017

Summative Assessment-III (2017) for Class X (WBBSE) began on November 20, 2017.

National Science Olympiad Examination 26/11/2017

On November 23, 2017 eight hundred and three students from Classes III, IV & V appeared for the National Science Olympiad. The examination was held in the school premises. Classes for the pupils of Nursery I & Nursery II remained suspended that day in order to provide rooms for the examination. The children of the Afternoon session who appeared for the examination came early and attended their classes afterwards. The examinees of the Morning session stayed back after their classes to appear for the examination.

Ullas 26/11/2017

The second day of Ullas, our inter-school festival was held on November 20, 2017 at G. D. Birla Sabhagar. Shri Bickram Ghosh, the renowned percussionist was the Chief Guest. The day started off with Kwizwiz (quiz). Mr Ryan Shaw was the Quiz Master. Other events of the day were Bohurupee (fancy dress in a pair), Do-Re-Mi (Western vocal music) and Prerna (dances to Hindi/Bengali inspirational songs). Mr Ayan Bhattacharjee, Mr Suprovo Tagore,   Ms Michelle Manuel, Mr Nitin Mani, Mr Kohinoor Sen Barat & Mr Suvasish Dutta, all eminent personalities, were the judges. South Point School bagged the maximum number of points and emerged the Champions, but being the host school, passed on the trophy to the First Runner Up – Mahadevi Birla World Academy. Birla High School (Junior Section) being the next in line, lifted the Runner Up Trophy. Individual trophies were also given to the children who won the first, second and third positions in each event held on that day.

School Fest 26/11/2017

The Interact Club and the Nature Club of South Point High School hosted the Annual Fest “Udaan and Vrrikshya-2017” on November 25, 2017 in the School premises. South Point High School was adjudged the overall winner. Being the host school, they passed on the trophy to St. Lawrence High School. The first Runner-up trophy went to Patha Bhavan and the second Runner-up trophy went to M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School. Aarshi Roychowdhury of Patha Bhavan, was declared “Miss Udaan & Vrrikshya-2017”, while Reeshav Bamralin of M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School was declared “Mr. Udaan & Vrrikshya-2017” and Pubarun Basu of XI CF of South Point High School was declared the “Star of the Fest”. The guest performance was by the band DRONE IN.

A refresher programme, ‘Masoom’ 03/12/2017

A refresher programme, ‘Masoom’ was held in the school auditorium for Classes III to V on November 27 & 28, 2017 to make the children aware of safe and unsafe touch. This awareness programme on child sexual abuse was conducted by Young Indians (an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry) which plays a proactive role in India’s development process & works in collaboration with CHILDLINE Indian Foundation. The children attended the sessions according to a schedule.

Workshop 03/12/2017

Photography Club of the School arranged two workshops on November 30, 2017 and December 01, 2017 in the School Auditorium. On the first day, about 93 pupils attended the workshop while about 43 pupils were present on the second day. The resource person for both the days was Sri Prosenjit Mitra.

About 40 pupils of Classes IX & XII attended an in-house seminar of the Astronomy Club which was held on December 02, 2017 in the School premises.  The speakers were Sohom Gupta of XI CJ, Soumyajit Basu of XI CA and Rwik Dutta XI CJ. The discussions, moderated by Sri Partha Pratim Roy (Academic Coordinator), were focused on Optical Astronomy, Radio Astronomy and discovery of gravitational waves.
