Pointer Connect

Pointer Connect is a joint initiative of South Point Ex-students’ Association (ASPEXS) and South Point High School. Its objective is to bring together and connect Pointers across generations. ASPEXS facilitates connections between students still studying in School and the ‘diaspora’ of former Pointers spread across the globe, with a view to augmenting the learning process of the current Pointersas well as providing the alumni a means to contribute back to their alma mater. A number of valuable sessions have taken place in the recent past, where the alumni, drawn from varied professions, addressed and interacted with students. These helped students gain first-hand understanding of these fields. Among the speakers were Dr. Arnab Gupta, Director of Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute; Dr. Siladitya Ray, Neuropsychiatrist; and Col. Tapas RanjanBera, Commanding Officer, 39 Bengal Battalion of NCC. Pointer Connect carries on unhindered despite lockdown – only changing its format to webinars or virtual seminars. Members of the alumni come online from across the world, amelioratingthe e-learning pattern now being followed at South Point. Speakers in the digital format have included Dr. Debjit Das Sarma, Principal Autopilot Hardware Architect, Tesla, USA; ParthaSarathi Chatterjee, Data and Analytics Head, Shell Energy, and Member, Board of Advisors, Energy Risk, USA; Dr. ArkadevChatterjea, Financial Economist and Visiting Fellow, CHERI, Cornell University, USA; and Ashish Toshniwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Y Media Labs, USA.

Pointer Connect not only builds bridges across generations. It opens doors to a wealth of achievable career dreams and creative ideas for present Pointers. A masterclass in motivation, that’s what Pointer Connect is.
