Workshops aimed at helping the teachers to guide and counsel children, as well as, their parents were held in the Library on March 14 & 15, 2018 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm. Teachers of Classes II & III attended the session on the first day while the teachers of Classes IV & V and the Arithmetic/Mathematics teachers attended the session on the second day. The resource persons were Ms Anju Chirminar and Ms Imon Neogi, the school counsellors and Ms Lily Khawas, the special educator of the school.
Yashswi Agarwal of Class XI CF has ranked 4th in West Bengal Category-I (Classes IX to XII) in All India Essay Writing Event-2017, organised by Shri Ram Chandra Mission in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan (UNIC). The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on February 04, 2018 at Babuji Memorial Ashram, Shri Ram Chandra Mission, Heritage School, Kolkata.
An excursion was organised for the members of Nature Club to Agri-Horticultural Society Gardens on February 10, 2018, the Annual Flower Show Day of the organisation.
SPICMACAY Club of South Point High School organized a Kathakali Dance Recital on February 06, 2018 at the School Courtyard to mark the 13th year of its association with the organization. The five member Kathakali Dance Recital team headed by Kalamandalam Amaljith, presented a spectacular show. Almost 400 pupils and members of staff watched the programme.
Listening Skill Test (Term-II) for pupils of Class XI was held on February 06, 2018.
Speaking Skill Test (Term-II) for pupils of Class XI began on February 07, 2018.
Pupils of Classes XI & XII participated in Interface-2017, an Inter-school fest, organized by The BSS School on August 25 & 26, 2017. Results of the fest are as follows:-
South Point High School was declared overall first and Pubarun Basu of XI CF was declared Mr. Interface-2017.
Parijat Dwary of Class V E (Morning) had participated in the Central Kolkata Table Tennis Championship held at YMCA, Chowringhee Branch, Kolkata on August 26 & 27, 2017. He became the winner in the Cadet Boys Singles Event (Under 12). He received the N. K. Ghosh Memorial Cup, a certificate and a cash prize worth Rs.500/-.
Anushka Sen of Class III B (Morning) had participated in the West Bengal Kickboxing State Championship 2017 held at Jadavpur University from August 4 to 6, 2017 organised by ‘Bengal Kickboxing Association’ in collaboration with National Service Scheme, Jadavpur University. She secured a gold medal and a certificate in the Sub Junior category. Anushka received another gold medal and a certificate in the Functional Fitness Competition organised by ‘360 Degree Sports’ at Jadavpur University on August 5, 2017.
Half-yearly Examination 2017-2018 (Practical, Project & Viva-Voce) for Classes XI & XII began on September 04, 2017.
On September 05, 2017, a farewell programme was organized for the members of staff, who have retired between 6th September 2016 and 5th September 2017. A short programme was presented by the teachers on the occasion. Gifts, sweets and bouquets of flowers were also presented to the retired staff members.
Pupils of Class XI staged a programme for the teachers in the School Auditorium to celebrate Teachers’ Day. They presented songs, dances and a play reading. All members of the staff were welcomed with roses, and cards specially designed by the pupils. Lunch packets were provided to all members of staff at the end of the programme.
The Priyamvada Birla Scholarship will be awarded every year, starting from 2013, to meritorious students belonging to the low income group, pursuing their studies in under-graduate courses in Colleges and Institutes in West Bengal on Merit cum Means Basis.
