CBSE East Zone Championship 10/09/2017

The School team participated in the CBSE Zonal Inter-school Chess Championship-2017 held at the Royal Global School, Betkuchi, Guwahati (Assam) from September 07 to 09, 2017. The following Medals were secured by the School:-

The U/19 Boys’ Team has qualified for the National Inter-school Championship to be held at Ranchi from November 14 to 18, 2017.

The School team participated in the CBSE Zonal Inter-school Handball Championship-2017 held at Chandrasheel Vidyapith, Kanti, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on September 08 & 09, 2017.

The School team participated in the CBSE Zonal Inter-school Football Championship-2017 held at St. Xavier’s School, Haldia, from September 06 to 10, 2017.

 

Mindspark Question Making Contest 10/09/2017

Ms. Gargi Banerjee, Head of the Department, Mathematics and Ms. Seema Goswami, Teacher Consultant, Arithmetic received certificates of appreciation for actively participating in the Mindspark Question Making Contest on the Teacher Forum platform. They had shared questions based on application of Mathematical concepts in real life. The entire programme was conducted by Educational Initiatives, with the aim to foster learning with understanding among students.

Workshop on project based learning 17/09/2017

Educational Initiatives organised a workshop on project based learning at Garden High School on September 16, 2017 from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. The resource person was Mr Shekhar Hardikar. He spoke about inter-disciplinary learning and also explained how one topic can be taught at various levels, right from Class II to Class XII. Ms Nivedita Gupta, Superintending Teacher, Class V, Ms Mome Bandyopadhyay, Superintending Teacher, Class III and Ms Hasnu Mukherjee, Superintending Teacher, Class II attended this workshop.

On the same day, Educational Initiatives arranged for another workshop at Garden High School, where the topic for discussion was ‘Remediation Through Assessment – A Skill for a Reflective Teacher’. The resource person was Mr Mollis Turner. He said that ‘assessment is actually a ‘feedback’ on both the teaching and learning processes. He also spoke about how the ‘reflective teacher’ can effectively use this feedback for remediation or rectification which is a vital component of the teaching-learning process. This workshop was attended by four teachers, Ms Saswati Banerjee, Ms Sonali Chakraborty, Ms Monira Haque and Ms Suruchi Soni. Ms S. Rajalakshmi, Coordinator of Classes IV & V also attended the workshop.

Participation 17/09/2017

Andhra Association School celebrated their 9th Inter School Competition on September 15 & 16, 2017. Samriddho Bose of Class IV H (Morning) participated in Spell Bee and Shauryaditya Mukherjee of Class IV G (Afternoon) participated in Essay Writing. Both these events took place on September 15, 2017. On the following day Meghalina Sanyal Chatterjee took part in the Elocution contest All three children stood Second. Each received a trophy, a certificate and a chocolate. The school received a rolling trophy.

Rajdeep Dey of Class III G (Morning) had participated in the Recitation Competition held at The Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture on August 5, 2017. He stood First in Group A. He received a certificate and books.

Parijat Dwary of Class V E (Morning) had participated in the All Bengal Table Tennis Championship 2017 at Mitali Sangha, Bhadreswar, from September 1 to 3, 2017. He became the winner in the Cadet Boys (Under 12) Singles event. He received a trophy and a certificate.

Rangeet Majumdar of Class I G (Afternoon) had participated in the 31st National Under 7 Open & Girls Chess Championship 2017 organised by The Krishna District Chess Association, in association with The Andhra Pradesh State Chess Association & Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh on behalf of All India Chess Association and held at Vijayawada on September 12, 2017. He secured 7½ points out of 11 rounds and was placed 19th amongst 190 participants. Rangeet received a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize worth Rs.1400.

 

Social Service 24/09/2017

On September 18, 2017, representatives from Classes IX & X were sent to Old Age Homes and Centres for HIV affected children as an activity under Daan Utsav, a pan India celebration of sharing and giving. They visited (i) Anandaghar at Sonarpur and distributed 125 new clothes to the inmates made according to size, (ii) Mahila Seva Samity at Rajpur and distributed 135 new outfits made especially for the underprivileged children under their care, and (iii) Ashoka Niketan’ an old age home at Rajpur and distributed Bed-sheets, towels and antiseptic creams to 40 inmates

Competitions 24/09/2017

The School team participated in different events of ‘OPUS’ organized by St. Lawrence High School at their premises on September 23 & 24, 2017. South Point High School secured the following prizes:-

Social Service 08/10/2017

The School wall was brightened with fresh paint just before the Puja vacation to usher in the festive spirit.

The pupils gave away bottles of water to the thirsty passing by the School on their way to visit the local Puja pandals on September 25, 2017.

Puja Utkarsh Samman 08/10/2017

The Student-judges for the M.P. Birla Foundation Puja Utkarsh Samman-2017 visited 101 shortlisted pujas in and around Kolkata on September 25, 2017. 32 Student-judges from South Point High School and 08 from M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School evaluated the pujas in ten groups. The results declared on September 26, 2017 were as follows:-

CBSE East Zone Championship 08/10/2017

The School team comprising 15 pupils (11 Boys & 04 Girls) participated in the CBSE East Zone Swimming Championship held at Sheyin International School, Kandra, Dist. Saraikella, Jharkhand from October 04, 2017 to October 07, 2017. The School team secured 43 Medals including 21 Gold Medals, 13 Silver Medals and 09 Bronze Medals. Out of 15 participants, 14 have been qualified to take part in the National Championship to be held at Sonepat (Haryana) from October 25 to 29, 2017.

Inter-house competition 08/10/2017

The third inter-house competition in the form of a quiz was held on September 20, 2017 in the school auditorium. Mr Ranjan Datta, an eminent quizzard, was the quiz master. The results are as follows:
