Priyamvada Birla Scholarship 14/06/2019

25 Cheques for Priyamvada Birla Scholarship 2018-2019 and 05 Cheques for Jaswant Singh Lodha Scholarship 2018-2019 were handed over to the eligible recipients in the programme held at the Uttam Mancha on Friday, June 14, 2019. The scholarships were awarded by Ms. Anamika Lodha, Trustee, Madhav Prasad Priyamvada Birla Apex Charitable Trust (MPPBACT), in presence of the trustees of MPPBACT and Lodha Charitable Trust. The programme was attended by around 450 senior students of South Point High School and M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School.

Distribution of Mark-sheets 13/06/2019

Inter-House Fest 09/05/2019

The Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in a befitting manner on Thursday, May 09, 2019 in the School Auditorium at 10:00 a.m. A short programme was presented by the CCA pupils from Classes VI to X, named “Rabindranath and Buddhism”.

Inter-School Competition 07/05/2019

• The Inter-school Singing Competition, ‘Satrangi’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar. Sri Samik Sinha was the compère of the programme. The judges were Sri Kalyan Sen Barat and Smt. Chandrabali Rudra Dutta. The three rounds were Tarang (chorus), ‘Tarannum’ (solo round) and Tere Sur Mere Geet (Judges’ Choice). Among the 08 finalists, the first prize went to South Point High School, while The Heritage School won the second prize and Mahadevi Birla World Academy won the third prize. Sanchari Sengupta of South Point High School was declared the “Best Singer”.

• The Inter-school One Act Play competition “Masquerade”, for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of the M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point), was held on Thursday, May 09, 2019 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar with 09 schools of the city vying for the first place. The esteemed judges were Dr. Devajit Bandyopadhyay, Sri Parthapratim Deb and Smt. Reshmi Sen. The Debate was chaired by Dr. Kunal Sarkar and the motion of the debate was “Global Warming is a hypothesis to keep people in a state of needless fear”. Mahadevi Birla World Academy secured the first position while Birla High School and Lakshmipat Singhania Academy secured the second and third positions, respectively. Ananya Dutta of Mahadevi Birla World Academy received the Best Speaker Award. The Judges for the event were Sri Pradeep Gooptu, Sri S. Ramalingam and Smt. Swati Gautam.

• The Inter-school Quiz Competition ‘Q-Point’ for the M.P. Birla Trophy organised under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar. The Quiz Master was Mr. Charanpreet Singh. Eight teams reached the finals from a total of 14 participating schools. South Point High School won the first position while Garden High School ranked second and St. Xavier’s Collegiate School ranked third. Anushko Mandal of South Point High School was adjudged the Best Quizzer.

• The Inter-school Open Essay competition “Perceptum” under the aegis of the M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh (South Point) was held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the School premises. 73 participants from 14 schools participated in the three groups – English, Hindi and Bengali. The participants in English were sub-divided further into two categories: Category-I for Classes IX and X, and Category-II for Classes XI and XII. The topics of the Essays were:-

• In the 47th Inter-school Rowing Championship, organized by The Lake Club on Tuesday, May 11, 2019, South Point High School Senior Boys’ Team won the Gold and the Junior Boys’ Team won the Bronze medals.

Examination 06/05/2019

• The AISSE 2019 result was declared on Monday, May 06, 2019. Out of a total of 725 pupils, who appeared for the examination, 223 pupils (30.76%) scored 95% and above, 243 pupils (33.52%) scored between 90% and 95%, 186 pupils (25.66%) scored between 80% and 90%, 47 pupils (6.48%) scored between 75% and 80% and 26 pupils (3.59%) scored between 60% and 75%. Suchana Halder scored the highest from the School with a total of 496/500. She was followed by Rounak Roy and Sreyashi Holme Choudhury with a score of 495/500 each.

• Class Assessment-I for Classes VI to VIII began on Wednesday, May 08, 2019.

• Class Assessment for Classes IX & X began on Wednesday, May 08, 2019.

Examination 02/05/2019

The AISSCE 2019 result was declared on Thursday, May 02, 2019. A total of 520 pupils appeared for the examination. 36 pupils (6.92%) scored 95% and above,139 pupils (26.73%) scored between 90% and 95%, 197 pupils (37.88%) scored between 80% and 90%, 50 pupils (9.62%) scored between 75% and 80%, 79 pupils (15.19%) scored between 60% and 75% and 19 pupils (3.60%) scored below 60%. Debanjan Das from the Humanities Stream scored the highest from the School with a total of 493 / 500. Angikar Ghosal secured the highest marks from the Science Stream with a total of 487/500 and Chaitanya Jhunjhunwala topped from the Commerce Stream with a score of 483/500.

Inter-house Competition 30/04/2019

The Inter-house Singing Competition for Classes IX & X was held in the School Auditorium on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. The pupils participated with great enthusiasm. Smt. Parent-Teacher Meeting 27/04/2019

A Parent-Teacher Meeting for pupils of Classes VI to XII was held on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Scholastic, the publishing company organized a Book Fair in the School Courtyard on that day. The volume of sales as reported by them was Rs.1,04,091/-.

The Principal also addressed some parents and their wards currently in Class XII. These pupils had failed to perform satisfactorily in the Annual Examination of Class XI.
