South Point School has emerged the Champion School of West Bengal in the ‘SIP Arithmetic Genius Contest 2018 – Season 3’, the Finals of which were held at St. Joseph’s College, Bowbazar on December 9, 2018. The school has won a cash award of Rs.15000/- along with a trophy and a participation memento.
A Refresher First-Aid Training Programme was held for the members of the Emergency Response Team in compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007 on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the School Auditorium. The programme was organized by Red Cross Society of India and their authorized resource person Mr. Ranjit Kumar Mondal, Retired Chief Engineer (Marine), conducted the programme.
Multiple counselling sessions for Class XI Science pupils, who have been offered admission in the academic session 2019-2020, were held in the School Auditorium to ensure that the pupils opt correct / useful subject combinations. The sessions were held on Thursday, February 14, 2019, Friday, February 15, 2019 and Saturday, February 16, 2019.
An assessment session on awareness of all demonstrators and service staff pertaining to the Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Composite Laboratory was held on Friday, February 15, 2019 in the Biology Laboratory. The assessment was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of training in compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007.
Annual Examination for Class VIII began on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
Annual Examination for Classes VI & VII began on Friday, February 15, 2019.
Pratik Gupta of Class XI G, the only selected candidate from West Bengal, is attending the India Camp at Hyderabad till March 06, 2019 in preparation for Junior World and Asian Rowing Championship-2019.
Saraswati Puja was celebrated in South Point School. Pupils of South Point School and South Point High School took part in a cultural programme that added joy to the day’s celebrations.
A mock evacuation drill for earthquake was held on Monday, February 04, 2019 for Afternoon Session and on Friday, February 08, 2019 for Morning Session.
Saraswati Puja was celebrated in school on February 10, 2019. The day began with the ‘puja’ followed by the ‘aarti’. Thereafter, a beautiful cultural programme was put up by both the schools. The choir of South Point School began the programme with a Rabindrasangeet befitting the occasion. This was followed by a dance by the little dancers of the junior school. The students of South Point High School put up a solo song and a group dance. A poem was recited and an interesting prose piece was narrated by two students. After the cultural programme, ‘pushpanjali’ was offered to the Goddess and ’prasad’ was distributed to one and all.
On February 06, 2019 the students of Nursery I to Transition brought potatoes and onions to give towards the social service project, ‘Reaching Out’. The children had been asked to bring a minimum of one potato and one onion each. The collection was sent to two NGOs, New Age and Calcutta Social Project.
