Three teams of South Point High School comprising pupils from Classes VIII to XI participated in ‘Smart Bengal Hackathon 2023’ hosted and managed by RCC Institute of Technology on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 & Wednesday, April 12, 2023. The Class VIII team (now in Class IX) of South Point High School, the Hackminors, comprising Purbayan Sarkar, Hrishkesh Saha and Sagnik Chakraborty, secured a joint third position in the software development category.
An In-house workshop was held for the teachers of the Chemistry department on Monday, April 03, 2023. Teachers actively participated in designing activities for the implementation of the proposals of National Education Policy 2020. Methods of teaching to help students learn from experience, were also demonstrated.
Two sessions were addressed by our In-house Counsellors on Tuesday, April 04, 2023 sensitizing teachers regarding the behavioural pattern of pupils especially those with learning difficulties.
An In-house workshop was held for the Computer Science Teachers of the middle school on Wednesday, April 05, 2023. Methodologies for implementing National Education Policy 2020 guidelines on experimental learning were discussed and demonstrated in the workshop.

On Thursday, February 09, 2023, pupils of Nature Club planted seeds in the School ground which they had received as gift from ‘Pathchala’ an organisation, who deals with underprivileged children.

A Bird Watching Excursion was held on Sunday, February 12, 2023 for the Nature Club and Photography Club members at Rabindra Sarovar with the assistance of Bird Watchers’ Society, Kolkata.
This year Saraswati Puja and Republic Day shared the same date. A brief programme was put up by the pupils at South Point School. The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana set on raag hanswadhwani followed by rendition of a patriotic poem. A folk song was presented by the CCA folk singers’ group as well as a dance to welcome basant or the season of spring.
A Camp in association with the Health Department, Government of West Bengal and Kolkata Municipal Corporation for Measles & Rubella Vaccination for the pupils of Classes VI to IX was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 and Friday, January 27, 2023 at the School premises.
Pathchala, a school for underprivileged children gifted seeds to our Interact Club members on Friday, January 27, 2023 as a mark of gratitude for the support provided to them in the form of new clothes during Durga Puja and stationary items during Annual Fest Udaan & Vrrikshya 2022.
South Point High School received the ‘Best School Award’ for the year 2022 in the Senior Talent Search Test 2022. The award was presented in the annual award ceremony of Jagadish Bose National science Talent Search on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Derozio Hall, Presidency University, Kolkata.

Smt. Soumi Sengupta attended a workshop on NEP-2020 on Saturday, February 04, 2023 at Hariyana Vidya Mandir. The workshop aimed at familiarising the new education policy and its various aspects.
Edugraphs Colleges 18/18 Award Ceremony
organized by The Telegraph was held on Thursday,
January 19, 2023 at the G.D. Birla Sabhaghar. Aditya Roy of Class X A (A)
was adjudged the best sports person under this award. Aditya played for Bengal
U/17 Cricket Team as a Captain and scored one century in the Vijoy Merchant
Trophy, organized by BCCI. He is the Captain of South Point High School Cricket
44 pupils and 05 teachers were sent to
Bengaluru for an educational trip, with academic support from Indian Technology
Congress Association (ITCA). The pupils visited Indian Space Research
Organisation (ISRO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and other industries
involved in making of PriyamvadaSat, our own Nano Satellite. The team left on Monday, January 16, 2023 and returned on Friday, January 20, 2023.
- On Day-1, a seminar was organised by ITCA where a talk was given on
satellites and other projects undertaken by ISRO. Insight was also given on the
activities of other countries on satellites built by students.
- On Day-2, the team visited URSC (ISRO). It the museum showcasing miniature
replicas of satellites launched by ISRO.
They also watched a video on the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
- On Day-3, the team visited Micropack Industry, a manufacturer of
Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) where different stages of processing were shown
and explained followed by a visit to the Visvesvaraya Industrial &
Technological Museum (VITM).
- On Day-4, the assembling of electronic circuits at Newtech Industry
was witnessed by the team.
The interactions with scientists and
engineers of ISRO and ITCA were educative yet enjoyable for the students.
College (Calcutta) Alumni Association organised the XXIX Chapter of Fr. Joris
Memorial Nihil Ultra National Debate on Saturday,
January 21, 2023 on “The House believes that we are witnessing
Euthanasia of Bollywood”. Fourteen pupils from Classes IX and XI of the School
accompanied by their teachers went to listen to the debate held at St. Xavier’s

Mukherjee Birth Centenary Hall in Indian Museum on Sunday, January 22, 2023 to attend seminars on the birth anniversaries
of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, to mark Azadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav of the Government of India. The event aimed at integrating and
rejuvenating the youth of Bengal in imbibing the ideals of Swamiji and Netaji.

The South Point High School Cricket Team
participated in the SLOBA CUP U/15 Inter-school Cricket Tournament, organised
by St. Lawrence High School at their premises from Monday, December 26, 2022 to Sunday, January 08, 2023. In the 1st Match held on 26.12.2022, South Point High School won
the match against Vivekananda Mission School by 109 Runs. In the 2nd Match held on 01.01.2023 against St. Lawrence High
School, South Point High School won the match by 06 wickets. In the 3rd Match held on 04.01.2023 against Indus Valley World
School, South Point High School won the match by 08 wickets and entered in the
semi-final. In the semi-finals held
on 07.01.2023 against The Heritage
School, South Point High School won the match by 12 Runs. In the final held on 08.01.2023, South Point High School team lost the match to St.
James School. Four playersof South
Point High School were adjudged the Man of the Match in different league /
qualifying matches and Samriddha Das Chakraborty of Class VI D (M) was adjudged
the Best Bowler of this tournament.
A community service was undertaken by the
pupils of Class XI on Sunday, January
08, 2023 to mark the death anniversary of the Founder Rector Satikanta
Guha. The pupils and teachers visited Navanir,
a home for aged, where the pupils served lunch to about 95 inmates. They also
had the privilege of interacting with them as well as entertaining the inmates.

09, 2023 to mark the death anniversary of the Founder Rector. Selected pupils
of Class XI and teachers visited the following organisations on Monday, January 09, 2023. Members of
staff donated various items that were distributed at the institutions mentioned
- Anandaghar, a home in Sonarpur for the
orphans who suffer from AIDS. The pupils handed over 50 Kg of Rice, 25 Kg of Pulses,
27 Liters of Mustard Oil, 50 Kg of Sugar, multiple tubes of Boroline, jars of Cold
Cream and bottles of Body Oil for the use of the inmates there.
- An Open School, run by Women’s
Coordinating Council for the underprivileged children in Chetla, were lent a helping
hand, when it received soft boards, exercise copies, pens, pencils and erasers.

The School Team comprising Srimon Bhattaharya – IX D (A), Parijat Dwary – X H (M) and Swastik Dey – XI D participated in the CBSE National Table Tennis Tournament held at Sri Prakash Synergy School, Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh, from Monday, January 09, 2023 to Friday, January 13, 2023. Sri Jugraj Rana accompanied the team as Coach and Team Manager.
