Achievements

Akshada Khatua of Nursery II G (Afternoon) had participated in ‘Best of Best Abhijit Seishinkai Inter Club Karate Championship 2020 Best of Best Cup’ organised by Abhijit Seishinkai Karate Do Academy, affiliated to All India Seishinkai Shito-ryu Karate Do Federation, on January 5, 2020. Akshada secured the Bronze medal in the 4–5 years Girls’ Kata category. She also received a certificate.

Somdev Sengupta of Class II E (Morning) participated in the Inter District Table Tennis Championship 2020, held at Athletic Club, Santoshpur, Kolkata on February 8 & 9, 2020. He secured a certificate and a trophy. Somdev also participated in the Inter District Table Tennis Championship, 2020 held at Sahid Smriti Sangha, Dhakuria, Kolkata. He stood 1st in Nursery Boys’ Singles category in this event too and received a certificate, as well as a trophy.

Rudrani Mondal of Class III E (Morning) participated in ‘Anandabazar Patrika School-e’ and stood 3rd in the event ‘Porar Phanke Naache Shera’, held on February 16, 2020. She received a certificate and a medal.

Achievement

Sreemoyee Sarkhel of Class III A (Morning) participated in the Republic Day Cup 2020, National Level Karate Championship held at National Public School Auditorium, Bangalore on February 1 & 2, 2020, organised by OSK Federation of India. She stood Second in Category 19 and received a medal and a certificate.

Reaching Out

On February 12, 2020 the students of Nursery I to Transition brought potatoes and onions to give towards the social service project, ‘Reaching Out’. The children had been asked to bring a minimum of one potato and one onion each. The collection was sent to three NGOs, Navanir, Ektara and Ek Prayas.

Evacuation Drills

A mock evacuation drill (fire drill) was practised in school on February 5, 2020. The entire drill was done twice, once at 10.15 a.m. during the Morning session and again at 1.40 p.m. during the Afternoon session. On the ringing of the fire alarm, the Principal, Ms D. K. Chadda, announced over the PA system that it was an emergency and that everyone needed to evacuate. The hooter was sounded and students, as well as, members of staff vacated the school building. In the morning the evacuation took 8 minutes, 54 seconds while in the afternoon it took 8 minutes, 25 seconds. Members of the Emergency Response Team helped in the evacuation. The teachers carried attendance registers with them and a roll-call of students was taken after the evacuation. Attendance of staff members was also checked. Ms D. K. Chadda addressed everyone explaining what the drill was about.

Another mock drill on bomb threat was held on February 8, 2020 at 11.00 a.m. Students attending the Saturday Activity classes and Abacus classes along with their teachers, staff members and all other present in the premises assembled in the courtyard (Assembly Area 1) as supposedly the bomb was in the backyard (Assembly Area 2). All rules related to this drill were followed. The time taken for the drill was 2 minutes, 58 seconds

Class Photographs

Class photographs for the children of Nursery II, Transition, Classes III & V were taken on February 3, 2020, while those for the children of Nursery I, Classes I, II & IV were taken on February 6, 2020. The photographs will be given to the pupils later, along with the Final Term Report Cards.

OHSAS / ISO

A Refresher Training on Occupational Health and Safety in compliance with ISO 45001:2018 was held in the School Auditorium on Saturday, February 08, 2020 for the Teachers of CCA, members of Service Staff, members of Office Staff and members of other staff, recruited from agencies.

Excursion

Excursion for Photography Club and Nature club students to Agri-Horticultural Society was organized on Saturday, February 08, 2020.

Participation

West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights held an important consultation on RTE on Friday, February 07, 2020. The focus of the meet was the need to understand the mental health of pupils. South Point High School was represented by Ms. Brita Sarkar (Coordinator – Classes VI to VIII).
