CBSE National Competition

The CBSE NATIONAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP was held at Mount Abu Public School, Rohini, New Delhi from 08/11/2019 to 13/11/2019. Our U/14 Boys, U/17 Boys & U/19 Boys Team had qualified to take part in this Championship.

RESULT

In the U/19 Mixed Individual Championship Aronyak Ghosh of Class – XF (M) won the Gold Medal and in the U/19 Boys’ Team event South Point High School won the Bronze Medal.

The CBSE NATIONAL TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP was held at R. R. Public School, Bijnoor, U.P from 09/11/2019 to 14/11/2019. Priyakshi Roy of Class – X (M) took part in the U/19 Individual Category.

The U/14 Boys’ Team won 2 consecutive matches against the Champion School Team of Gulf Region and the Champion School Team of South Zone.

In the Individual Championship Swastik Dey of Class – VIII B (A) and Priyakshi Roy of Class – X G (M) won a match each.

In the U/14 Mixed Doubles Category Parijat Dwary of Class – VII H (M) won Bronze Medal.

The CBSE NATIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP was held at Gyanganga International School, Bhopal from 11/11/2019 to 16/11/2019.

A total of 10 pupils (5 Boys & 5 Girls) had qualified for the tournament, in U/17 and U/19 categories.

School Fest

The Interact Club and Nature Club of South Point High School presented the Inter-school Fest UDAAN & VRRIKSHYA 2019 in association with The Telegraph, Young Metro, on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the premises of South Point High School from 8 am to 7 pm. The participating schools of the event were – Abhinav Bharati High School, Adamas World School, Bhavan’s G.K Vidyamandir, The BSS School, The Heritage School, Patha Bhavan, Sri Sri Academy and the host, South Point High School. Shri Krishna Damani, Trustee, South Point Education Society, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The following nineteen events took place on the day of the fest –

Handball, Futsal, Throwball, Photography, Film Review & Poster-Making, Poetry Slam, Science Project Presentation, Quiz, Darts, Non-Gas Cooking & Blogging, Rap & Beatbox, Debate, Eastern Orchestra, Marketing & Entrepreneurship, Cosplay, Theatre, Stand-Up Comedy, Fusion Dance and Fusion Band. 53 underprivileged children from PRATIK SEVABRATEE were made part of a social service programme. A magic show was organized for the children and gifts were also distributed to them. Food Stalls and Games Stalls were additional attractions of the Fest. A guest band performance by UJAAN at 6 pm was the closing event of the day. This was followed by the Prize Distribution at around 6:35 pm. Winning teams were awarded medals and merit certificates. Trophies were given to the overall winning school, and the first and second runner-ups. Individual trophies were awarded to Mr. Udaan, Ms. Udaan and the Star of the Fest. South Point High School came first. However, being the host school they graciously passed on the trophy to 2nd positioned, Adamas World School. Thus, the finals results stood as:

Olympiad

National Science Olympiad conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation was held on Monday, November 11, 2019 in the School premises.

Workshop

Five pupils, from Classes XI & XII of the Astronomy Club, accompanied by Sri Kishalaya Saha, attended a one day seminar cum workshop at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata on Monday, November 11, 2019. The seminar and workshop was on astronomy and astrophysics, including a sky watching session in the evening.

The third phase of the workshop on “Compression only life support” (COLS) as part of the techniques of CPR was held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 for the pupils of Classes XI K and XI L in the School Premises.

Classes I to V

The Missionaries of Charity have made an appeal to South Point School to help in making Christmas a happy occasion for some under-privileged children in Kolkata. Willing pupils may bring gift packets containing old clothes, toys, soap bars or anything else they wish to give. Food items like biscuits, cakes, etc. should be packed separately. Packets will be collected from the classrooms on December 4 & 5, 2019.
